In 1995, the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival lost a relentless advocate and community spirit who helped change the festival from a small, locally run event into a world class show which draws artists from all over the world.
In her honor, the Suzi Beane Perry Scholarship was established to recognize promising students in visual arts, performing arts, and communication arts, attending Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida. Suzi’s vision and her life touched many people; her tireless spirit will never be forgotten and will live on through the recipients of this scholarship.
Since its inception, over $48,000 has been awarded to deserving students.
Scholarships funds are provided by GGAF and the generous donations of Vicki Baroco, Wendys/Wendco, Pensacola Photo Supply, Tony and Bonita Jacobs, Deborah Dunlap Historic Pensacola Photographs, Tom and Beverly Vaughn, March and Mary Perry, and Craig and Sue Perry.
For 2011, there were thirteen $500 scholarships awarded to deserving arts students from UWF and PSC. The winners were:
