Emerging Artist
The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, in partnership with Artel Gallery, offers a grant opportunity for emerging artists. The purpose is to provide support and exposure for one new artist each year.
Ruta Janiulis has been selected as the 2023 Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival Emerging Artist.

Ruta Janiulis
Ruta is a Lithuanian-born artist who has lived in the United States since 1994. She graduated from the Fine Arts Gymnasium in Kaunas, Lithuania in 1992 . Studied for two years in Vilniaus Dailės Academy in Kaunas faculty and dropped out to move to the United States.
Ruta lived in the Chicago area and worked as a full-time artist for 19 years.
Having studied and worked in Europe, she often draws from her European roots for inspiration. Her fascination with architecture, vintage photography and history is visible in her works and portraits.
After moving to the state of Florida, her interest became free in search of her own artistic style and new subjects.
Her mediums include oil, watercolors, and collages. In addition to gallery works, she painted numerous commercial and residential murals.
