Each year, the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival (GGAF) sponsors a design competition to select the official GGAF poster. The winning artist receives a $1,500 cash award. Creative artists are encouraged to submit their designs. Entries should be appropriate for replication on posters, T-shirts and other GGAF promotional items.
The competition is open to artists 18 years old and older. There is a separate poster contest for children administered through local schools. Ask your school's art teacher for more information.
Submission start and end dates: April 3, 2023, to June 30, 2023
Submission Requirements: All entries must be a minimum size of 14" x 24", and no more than 24" x 36". Designs with a height roughly 1.5 times the width are preferred. The design must be able to include the name Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, Pensacola, Florida, and the year. However, we do not require these elements to be included in the submission as long as they can be added if the design is selected.
Each submission must be an original design that has not been reproduced previously.
Designs cannot be submitted digitally. Digital designs must be printed for submission and available in a high-resolution format if selected.
Each entry must include the artist's name, address, email, and telephone number adhered to the back of the entry. No more than three designs per artist may be submitted.
Entries need to be mailed or delivered to Duncan McCall Advertising, 4400 Bayou Boulevard, Suite 11, Pensacola, Florida 32503. This is a volunteer drop-off location, open weekdays during business hours. They are not able to answer questions about the contest.
Entries not selected can be retrieved in person or mailed back to the artist provided the artist encloses the full cost of returned postage. Entries not selected or retrieved will be disposed of 60 days after competition deadline.
The selected design will be reproduced on posters, T-shirts and other GGAF promotional items that are a major source of support for the festival. As such, judging criteria will include viability of sales potential. Submissions should be thematically related to the arts festival. The GGAF committee reserves the right to accept or reject all work submitted during this competition. GGAF, Inc. accepts no liability for damaged or lost art works.
GGAF, Inc. will reproduce and wrap the winning poster for sale during the festival. Only a limited number of signed copies of the poster are available for sale each year. The artist will be required to sign the posters prior to the festival.
Festival posters have become a regional collector's item. The winning entry becomes the property of GGAF, Inc. who will have the rights to unlimited reproduction and use of the image or parts of the image for the art festival materials and products for sale in perpetuity. Winning the poster contest does not entitle the winner to a booth in the juried fine art show.
